How Roblox visionary producer maximizes thrilling experiences with data

๐ŸŒŠ Be like water, my friend. Water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

Nic Hill is the Co-founder of Sawhorse, one of the leading production houses for Roblox experiences at the moment. He recently did a talk with Daniรซl van der Waals from Yom in The Immersive Internet episodes he usually hosts on LinkedIn.

๐Ÿ’ฌ They discussed all things Roblox, but what stood out to me was their conversation about data, a topic I referred to in the comments and to which Nic responded.

๐Ÿ“Š Nic shared that Sawhorse usually designs their Roblox experiences with a specific strategy to measure the performance of each idea within the experience. They create variations in the experiences to measure how much audiences engage with each aspect. This allows them to assess in real time how to upgrade or change the experiences to make them more accessible and interesting for the audience.

๐Ÿค” This was fascinating for me to hear from Nic because social media operates a bit differently. Once a post is live, itโ€™s live, and there is little you can do to adjust it. Yes, you can edit the copy, hoping that a better copy can enhance engagement or shareability, but the real impact is not too strong.

๐ŸŽฎ In Roblox, it's different. Performance data can be read live from the Creator Hub, allowing developers to adjust the experiences according to the information they receive from the data.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ This can only be done if the game is well-designed for that purpose. Developers build games strategically so they can measure how every part of the game is performing, when players are leaving or stopping play, and therefore design adjustments to make the experiences more valuable for the audiences.

๐Ÿš€ This flexibility, based on real-time data, is what guarantees the success of each experience on Roblox.

๐ŸŒŠ On Roblox, games have to be flexible, like water, to succeed.
